Hello everyone! I would like to welcome my new subscribers! I have has 3 new readers in the past few days (thanks to Lina Sophia of Spiffing Sporadics who mentioned a post I did a while back).

I finally cut off some of my dead ends into a middy cut from the tutorial given by C-Dot on the Fedora Lounge. I had a hard time cutting the left side, so I asked for assistance from my sister who chopped off a large chunk straight and forced me to cut off more than I wanted (its ok Dallas!) Lauren helped me straighten (or better "U"-ed it out)!

Here is a few pics of how I was wearing my hair before I cut it! I miss wearing it like this!

The late 90's / early 2000 blonds? I was one of them! Ah nostalgia :D

I recently cut my hair short in an A-lined bob (short in the back and longer in the front). I damaged my hair from dying it too much, so I decided to chop it off. The A-line bob was a last minute decision.

Here is a pic of me from 2003 taken by my mother-in-law (to be).

Anyways, after I cut my hair, I have been reminded of the short blond es from the 90s that I grew up idolizing like Gwen Stefani, Drew Barrymore, Julia Stiles, etc.

Halloween this year was quite difficult as I was rather sick! In this photo I was going for Dita's femme fatale look when she parts her hair down the middle, always so fab! My sister and her boyfriend also looked fab at dinner! We all decided to go to Pechanga for dinner, but did not see many people dressed up.

Thanksgiving

For Thanksgiving I had just finished watching LisaFreemontStreet's hair tutorial on one of Lolita Haze's updos, and so I thought I would give it a try. It did not come out the same, but I think it has a similar look. Everyone (including my picky parents) loved it! I used perm rods on the top layers and some pillow rollers on the bottom and back.

Here is a pic of my vintage inspired manicure I gave myself before I headed off to my Grandmother's. It's by Revlon and has a warm red with gold shimmer in it that can take a reddish-brown huh with warmer clothes or a plum-gold with cooler tones. Quite versatile!

As the evening came to a close at Lauren's parents house, his mom decided I needed a clay facial! Sadly, I soon discovered I forgot to get a pic of me and Lauren on Thanksgiving, oops :(

I really want to find a fab 40s dress in my size and some colorful (hopefully leather) gloves this winter season, what are you looking for?

Movie Night ~ Loney Hearts ~

Lonely Hearts

I watched this movie last night as my mother assured me this was a fantastic film.

Breakdown:

A romancing con artist finds he is in more than he bargains for when he tries to con a can artist (Salma Hayak). The plan was to con women out of their money, but her (Hayak) jealousy gets the better f her, and they soon being a killing spree. Soon they are being chased by a detective (Travolta) after the "Lonely Heart Killers."

I found this movie to be slow and dull due to some of the (IMO) unnecessary scenes involving Travolta. I think the movie could have developed the story without drawing it out so much. The movie is a good (at least) one timer. The clothing is absolute eye candy that will have you searching etsy for some great 40s frocks.

Salma's was a complete femme fatale in this movie, and her outfits were divine. I especially loved her 40s red dress and white suit complete with Cuban Heeled stockings! Sadly, I was unable to find any great pics on the web.

I would give the movie 7/10. The movie was quite interesting to see how women were taken advantage of after their hubbys were killed during the war (WWII), and how con men (and women) used this to their advantage.

The ladies clothes and hair were fantastic (hair-not the best, but decent), and the men weren't too shabby themselves.

Marcel, Have We Met?

I took these pics a few weeks back. Not too shabby for my first time and no setting plan. I had set my hair in pin curls the night before. I was running late, so I had only a few minutes to remove the pins and form the waves. I used the long clamps to hold the waves. I finished the styling in the car and pinned the longer porting into a faux bob, which didn't turn out well :(

I was happy with the waves in the front, but I need to work on the back. I kinda think that I had it rolled up to much n the back. I think if it was a looser faux bob it would have looked better.I just LOVE the waved look! I especially love it on longer hair, which is why I am trying to grow mine out. All of the ladies above have such a pretty face shape to carry off a chin length bob.

While we (my sis and I) were out and about the other day getting stuff to fix her fence, me and Mom wanted to stop by a small thrift store. They had a good dozen hats, and we tried nearly all of them on...the lady working there soon joined in!

Dallas was drawn to this one, as was I, once I put it on her and then myself. So she picked it up, and gave me the responsibility of wearing it with the exception of Halloween as this will be her Halloween hat. It is a tough job, but I'll try and manage :D The old car in the pic is one in a diner in Oceanside called Pit Stop.

I decided to wear the hat out today and quite liked the way it looked. The red and pink fit my "Super Mario" dress perfectly. The little flowers on the dress look just like the power-up flowers in Mario, but pink! Even the center panel have really small Mario flowers! I didn't notice that my dress was a Mario dress until a few weeks back after I began playing Mario World on the Wii.

Movie Night: ~The War Bride~

Hands down one of my favorite period pieces (Titanic, Changeling, Mulholland Falls, ... to name a few). I was a bit hesitant of renting this movie as I hate sitting through boring period movies (even if there is beautiful clothing candy). After seeing all the pretty pics on other blogs, I had to rent it from Netflix! I wish I would have watched it sooner :D

The ladies from England (Lily and Sophie) have the most amazing wardrobe!! Below is just one of the amazing outfits they can be seen in....for some reason, I can't find any other pics. One aspect of the movie I like most is that the gals are down right charming!

Breakdown: The movie is basically about a gal living in London during WWII meets a young fella and soon fall in love and get married. He leaves her behind pregnant, and soon he sends for her to stay with his family in (rural) Canada. Sophie is left in the hands of a rich family while Lily, to her surprise, is not greeted with open arms, and left with a poor family the story goes from there.

Fashion: The cloths are all lovely! The English gals sure know how to dress up. You will see that during the movie, Lily is not greeted warmly by the locals as she is over dressed "city girl" for many of them. One of the interesting aspects is that Lily was a seamstress in London, so here she is making 'naughty' knickers for some of the local ladies to befriend them. I think this movie is particularly effective in showing that by trying to dress up and look your best, despite your settings, you can feel good about yourself. Though it can be hard when the 'majority' feels offended/disapproving of your clothing/hair choices.

Rating: I would give this a 4.5/5. I really enjoyed this movie. There are somethings I would have preferred they did differently, but other wise this was a visual feast! I also think the story had several interesting points (which I will not go into...spoilers).

I am particularly fond of 'period movies/tv shows' as I like to see how a modern gals/fellas look in vintage attire. To give you an idea on my rating scale, I am about 50/50 (sometimes less) with period pieces as many have beautiful costumes but lack in substance (e: Edge of Love, I thought it was so bad, I couldn't finish it...I will try it again at another time).

Movie Night: The Last of the Blonde Bombshells

Basically this is a movie about an older woman getting in touch with her past as she was a saxophone (I believe) player in the 40's in a group called the Blonde Bombshells after she loses her husband. She meets a young guitarist and slowly begins playing again. She soon discovers that she would like to reunite with members of the old band...and the story goes from there.

The victory rolls in the film were my first introduction to them, and I was in awe. One of the 'ladies' in the film has an amazing Betty Grable up-do.
Now I just adore Judi Dench! She is the sweetest actress, and I wish I had someone like her as a grandma or just knew her.

You can actually watch it on youtube. This is part 1 of 7...just click on the next part on the right hand side. If you are unsure about watching the entire movie, just watch the first part (9.52 minutes, and I 'll bet you will stay to watch the rest!).

On a side note (I am not sure if this is still playing), in the UK there is (was?) The Blonde Bombshells of 1943 in theatre. Though the pics of the performers (on the link) look more like 80's hair/costume, it may be worth checking out!

Hair Chronicles from Father's Day

These are, more-or-less, the after sots of my Father's Day hair. I slept on 2nd day hair in a high ponytail with some dry pin curls (I unsuccessfully attempted the Betty Grable up-do). After I took my hair down the next day, I was displeased, so I put the hair in Hot Sticks to again attempt the up do with no success, so I brushed it out until I ended up with a better version that the pics show.

My hair is quite "wind-blown" for lack of a better word due to golf-carting with my dad and little sis when we got to my parents house. We had SO much fun, and everyone was in a great mood!!!

I didn't get the chance to take before pics as I was rushing, and I forgot! Boo! Meanwhile, I am currently out of school for the summer with no job, so I will probably be posting more hair chronicles as I go.

Here are some of my looks I was 'sporting' yesterday. I did a pin curl cold set the night before, and to my horror, they were still wet in the back come morning (my hair is VERY porous from over processing). I used a bonnet type dryer to help dry it, but before it could be completed, I had to head out. I did some waves in the front and underpinned the back. Here is the result: It turned out alright, but not what I was hoping for...
Later in the evening, as everything was not dry, I found my 'rat' and did some faux bangs, that I thought turned out quite well, but could defiantly use some improvement.
After messing with that, I unrolled it, and did a side large pin curl. I really miss my blond hair. I really don't like the darker brown, as I feel that in most pics I look mean or grouchy (ah la the first pic).

Attempting the ... Jayne Mansfield

The other night instead of studying, I was attempting the Jayne Mansfield! Jayne is one of my favorite blond bombshells, and I just adore her hair and makeup looks. I first discovered Jayne from the movie The Jayne Mansfield Story portrayed by Loni Anderson. Honestly, I thought Anderson was on the annoying side, but it is still a fun/sad movie to watch. I am going to rent The Girl Can't Help It, and see about watching it with my mother in law tomorrow for Mothers Day! On the web, you can watch it free here.

For the hair, I rolled the hair using Con-Air hot rollers with the smaller barreled curlers at the front and the bigger ones in back. I then took them out and began "picking" them apart with a comb and fingers. I then used a round brush to help roll the various sections.

Makeup was L'oreal Intense Carbon black eyeliner and Mac's Russian Red lippie.

If anyone knows of a good Jayne tutorial on the web, Please let me know! pixi2woo did a fantastic tutorial on Jayne...go take a look!

Help! I can't Stop Chomping!

I have very short stubby nails as I have the HoRRIBLE habit of biting my nails. I would like to grow them out a bit, so I can attempt a nail al-la Dita. I have tried on brighter colors that I have: black, red, blue (midnight), etc...but I find that a short stubby nail in a bright color looks tacky...especially on me!

To help me stop from biting them, I painted them a nude color. I am particularly in love with the coffee/purple color that is popular at he moment. So when I stopped by Target today, I came across the nail section and was instantly attracted to one color...the coffee nude color. It s By Sally Hansen and the color is "370 Commander in Chic" in the line "Complete Salon Manicure." The price will set you back about $6.50...yes, I know! I like the Sally Hansen brand as I have used it before. I particularly like their deep reds. I am interested in the OPI (?) brand, but not sure where to get it. They also have a nude color I would like to try. The black matte nails look like they could be fun to try if you have longer nails!

7 Year Anniversary

Me and Lauren (my bf) had our 7 year anniversary together back at the end of March. For some reason the beginning of the day escapes me, but the later part of the day ended with dinner at Apple Bee's (mmm mashed potatoes), and then home to enjoy the movie we seen on that same day 7 years earlier: Dreamcatcher (novel by King).

We watch it every year (even if I fall asleep at the end). I remember being on the IM with him, and I told him that I was "Jonzing it see it." He asked if I wanted to go see it with him, but I was hesitant, but finally did...best decision made so far :)

In my pic, I wanted Lauren to get aq pic of my shoes, so when it came time for me to take his pic, he wanted to be sure his shoes were in the pic; hence, the shoe dislay by him!

I have been looking around for some great sweaters to wear with my dresses or skirts. I have a few that I have really worn to the bone (some not quite yet, but give me time :P). I happen to like Torrid's section of sweaters as they fit and are much more flattering than some other plus size stores. Honestly, I find Torrid's clearance section quite pricey, so I love when they have a 50% off clearance sale which seems to be every few months (~ every 2-4 months).

I just adore the little owl pieces I have been seeing at Torrid...so cute! Get over to a store or go online to see what you can find!

Oh, What Fun!

Today was a day for some much needed fun! Above is my daily outfit. I think my hair turned out quite nice (especially in the back). The day began with some Wolfenstein, and from there me and Lauren (my bf) went to a local thrift store where I bought the 30's (large) topper as seen in the pic to the left. While there I also found a gorgeous faux fur scarf (?) in midnight blue....love love love! I seen one similar months back in a deep cranberry and kick myself for not getting it, so I could not pass this one up even at $15.

Afterward, we went to Blockbuster and met up with my sis Dallas for some excellent Mexican food (my fav!). Once we got back to my apt, me and Dallas began watching a 3D movie while Lauren got ready for work. Me and Dal then went to 99 cent store and got some drugstore makeup marked down to a buck.

There is still a bit of the evening left, and I may meet up with Dal and her bf for some endless fries...mmmm :)

On a side note, I am looking into starting an Etsy shop this week :)

I'm Getting....a Corset :)

For my birthday at the end of this month, I have asked my boyfriend for a corset! He agreed, so I have been contacting dealers on Etsy to find the perfect one for me. I want one that is longer like Rose's from Titanic, but I want a "heart" shape like the lace number on the bottom left (it is one of Dita's in case you didn't know!). There are so many beautiful corsets on Etsy! I am looking to get it made from a particular dealer whose craftsmanship looks completely superb! I will post more later.

Valentine's Day Hair Tutorial

Lately I have been attempting the Veronica Lake and Dita von Teese hairstyles, and feeling as though I am coming up short. Here is one attempt I did a few weeks back.

1. Roll hair in Hot Sticks or rollers
2. Brush hair out
3. To get pageboy (w/the sides) use a round brush
4. Style the rest of your hair as you see fit.

I have been really failing at trying those dang waves that Dita sports so often! If anyone has a tip on how to do this, please leave a comment below!!!

Perhaps my hair is too damaged! :( It is damaged to the point that "normal" hot rollers lose their curl completely after 15 minutes, and hot rollers last about an hour. To get my hair to hold a curl I have to sleep on rollers which I have been neglecting lately.

I sure look like a sour-pus in these photos, but they seem the best out of the bunch 8)

Oh How I Glove Thee...

I found two pairs of gloves (grey and black) before Christmas that were leather and fit like a glove :), but failed to get them along with a pair of opera length gloves as I had already spend too much and needed to get more x-mas prezzies...boo-hoo. Next time. I am especially loving the brown leather opera lenght gloves Dita is sporting in the last pic!

I currently have two pairs of gloves, one a polyester cinnamon brown and the other a velvety black. Pics can be seen here. I also received some hats for Christmas, but I need to find my camera--boo for moving!

I find gloves to be like hats in that they add such a personal flair to an outfit! Perfect for the colder months, and when paired with the perfect outfit can add such glamour and elegance. I love to see women all dressed up and that little extra spark (hat, gloves, heels, something unusual) that makes you think 'wow, she looks amazing' and later you realize that that little extra coordination made her go from plain to pleasantly surprising, and it makes you want to try with your accessories.

Movie Night: ~Cadillac Records~

Looking for a fun movie to watch instead of doing chores, I watched Cadillac Records on Netflix (on instant, so go watch!). I have been meaning to watch it for awhile now.

The movie is based around the history of Chess records, the founder Leonard Chess, and the talents of Muddy Waters, Little Walter, Howlin' Wolf, Chuck Berry, and Etta James. The movie is narrated through the eyes of Willie Dixon (played by Cedric the Entertainer). For more info about the movie or cast visit the IMDB.

Now for the fun stuff (the pics, of course :)

All the ladies are stunning in the movie. I especially loved Gabrielle Union's hair. While I believe that Beyonce had the best make-up! The redhead (Isabelle Allen) at the beginning of the movie had the best suit and hats! (I also adored her hair...she is only in two scenes). While I found Muddy's man-finger waves (I am not sure what else they would be called on men) adorable, I found Brody's hair boring. It looked like his hair does normally, and not true to the period.

Unfortunately, I could not find more clips on the movie. I loved several of the "background" stars to have interesting attire and hair. Oh well, have fun!

Sadly there were not that many hats featured in the movie, but the ones that make an appearance are fab!

Dita Channeling Betty Draper

It would appear from a pic of Dita at a book signing event, that she is channeling Betty from Mad Men. In the episode "Souvenir" when she is in Rome, and the two men are trying to pick her up at the cafe.. What do you think? Additional pics of Dita's look can be found here. Dita's hat kind of hides the upside-down "U" type bun updo, but you can see enough that they look pretty similar.

Can't Find A Bonnet - Try This!

A month or so ago, I was at Sally's Beauty Supply, and I came across bonnet dryers (about $50) and then seen an attachment for "standard" hair dryers for about $10. I have only tried it a few times, but it seems to work well.

I had to pin the front part a little so it would fit my head better, as it tends to want to cover my face. I think that if I sew in a piece of elastic around the edge, it would fit better and probably dry more efficiently. I really like this attachment, but I wish it was designed a little more efficiently so it would stay on my head a bit better. It works pretty well for drying roller sets (sponge/perm rods that are set wet the night before) that have not finished drying overnight. The end that attaches to a blow dryer fits really well, but can occasionally slip off. It works on my Conair blow dryer, similar to this one:

My hair is VERY damaged but super fine, so it takes about 30 minutes to dry hair that is 75% dry, and about an hour to dry hair that is 50% dry. Just for reference, it takes about 7 (yes, 7!) hours for my hair to air dry. That IS how damaged my hair is! Oh, btw, the picture shown along with the link, is the exact attachment that I bought. Rating: 7/10 mainly b/c of the design.

Viva Vintage: Find It, Wear It, Love It!

I recently picked up this book, and thought I would give my thoughts on it.

This looks like a great book for someone (like me) just getting into the vintage scene or looking to jazz up their life with some frills (also, like me). One of my favorite things be it blogs, books, etc... is visuals, especially pretty pictures (which is why I add so many). This book has several real-life pictures (not ONLY cartoons) of vintage styles by decades (20s-80s, but NOT in great detail...just a brief review) which I found helpful for being able to mildly distinguish between eras (I can already do this to a degree).

This book is no way intended for vintage guru's (though they may enjoy reading it), as much as it is intended for those who are interested in starting to dress vintage or incorporate a little bit of vintage aesthetics in their current wardrobe.

It does contain helpful links to vintage shops and websites, and it also contains brief info on becoming a vintage seller.

Land Girls (2008)

Ever since I first seen some screen shots of Land Girls on another blog, I have been in search of the movie, but I couldn't find it :( Luckily, my wonderful fiancee Lauren knew I wanted to see it, so he found it for me to watch in parts on youtube!

Do you think she gets weird looks when she tries on vintage hats in second-hand stores?

Since I have become more involved with reading blogs on my computer (wasting most of the day away day dreaming about gorgeous vintage finds), I have started doing something I NEVER thought I would do in a million years: I tried on vintage hats!

At first, I was a bit squeamish (I think some of you may know what I am talking about), and I was unable to place hats so they looked good, but with slight adjustments, I fell in love. Now, when I enter second hand stores, I immediately go for the hats, gloves, then clothes.

While geting all googly eyes over the hats and begin trying them on and making proper adjustments, I will sometimes catch a glimpse at someone staring at me. I usually get two reactions:

1. They give me that squeamish/grossed-out look, like how could I try on something that hasn't been washed...worse if the hats have fur!

2. They will make it a point to tell me how much they love the hat and how it looks on me.

So my question, do you think Dita gets weird looks when she tries them on in second hand stores?

Berlin Hair Baby's You Tube tutorials are fantastic. I especially LOVE her Betty Draper in Rome hair tutorial. I found her channel after looking for a tutorial on True Blood's Queen Sophie. I especially like her hair tutorials because she has medium length hair that is a few inches longer than mine, so I can more easily follow/attempt her tutorials than those with longer hair. Additianally, her tutorials are fun to watch, and she makes you feel like your watching a friend give you a lesson on hair tips :) Visit her blog for additional pics/upcoming tutorials/further explanation of the tutorials.

A Hairy Dilemma

I want hair like Dita...it looks good all the time. The past few weeks I have been fixing my hair like Dita's in the first pic...like a "slight" pageboy in that after I take out my rollers (sponge or perm rods), I brush it so that it curls vertically on the sides and horizontally in the back. Unfortunately, I have bangs that are growing out and can be difficult to style...bah humbug!

I stopped by Sally's beauty store a few weeks back and for a rat (hair bun) to attempt faux bangs. To my dismay, my bangs are too short and my hair so thin that I have to wait awhile longer to attempt these cool faux bangs that Dita sports often. I have to admit that they feel weird having such an "unnatural" bangs, but I will attempt them in public before too long.

Below is Dita's inspiration for doing the faux bangs, Carmen Miranda! SHe looks so lovely in this picture. I recently watched two movies she had a small role in: A Date with Judy and Down Argentine Way. Both are fun to watch, I love her heels in both movies. Unfortunately, she didn't sport the bumper bangs in either movie...maybe the next movie I see her in...

Plus Size Holiday Look Books!!!!

This time of the year is my fav for new (and old favs) in fashion because we (curvy gals) get our own Vogue-like pictorials on plus size stores websites.

Lane Bryant's Holiday Look Book (out now) features most of the things I love about the holidays ~feminine details, jewel tones, holiday decorations, and old Hollywood like glamour.
Skorch (finally back) features (more accurate plus size women 14-28, unlike other stores/mags) in beautiful clothing, and every page (other than and sometimes including) like other "printed" magazines on most stands. By the way, each month a new magazine with beautiful women is featured with the newest fashions. This is the HG (Holy Grail) of plus size magazines...I am SO glad they brought it back!
Plus Model Magazine is very similar to Skorch and was my HG while Skorch was away :) The online mag shows beautiful women in breathtaking photos selling products. I think I like Skorch more because it seems easier to navigate than PMM. It also has tips and interviews for plus size models or those looking to get into the biz.
Avenue has their own looks book that seems geared toward more mature ladies, but the photos and beautiful nonetheless.
Additionally, look at your fav (and others) for great holiday inspirations.

Mad Men's for the Birds

I think most of us are in love with Mad Men. The styling on the show is superb, and leaves you wanting more...

I recently came across this crazy talented curvy designer Jasmine Elder who is the designer of Jibrionline from Etsy. Her JIBRI Flapping Grace Dress is something to be desired. It reminds me of the fashions from Mad Men (I hope by saying this, I am not offending her). The dress is soo dreamy and the model wearing the dress kinda reminds me of Joan Holloway and what she would wear. The price is a little steep at $250, but it looks like an investment piece that you could get a great deal of wear and glam out of...

Finally, those birds add so much character to the photo and looks like a plus size Vogue pictorial! Great job Jasmine!!!

Inspiration or Mistake: Kirstie Alley

Kirstie Alley:

This woman obviously likes color! Good for her. I love to see Kirstie rocking the maxi dress. She shows how plus size gals can rock a modern trend! I have personally been wearing the maxi dress and cardigan combo for a few years, and I love it. It is a great way for a PSS to feel feminine and sexy ;)

I think she has become synonymous with why you shouldn't be fat in Hollywood: because no one wants anything to do with you, for instance:

Sometimes it seems as if they (the media) try to find the most unflattering shots of Kirstie to sell their magazines on how she is "too fat" or "only has 4 years to live."

I personally feel that Kirstie is a gorgeous woman large or small. I personally am shocked that plus size retailers don't fight to snatch her up to model their clothing.

Yes, as curvy gals, we have DC (double chin) moments, our clothing loves to cling to each and every "thing," and, like every woman, we have bad days where it seems that any and everything we put on looks and feels like crap!

I feel that Fat Actress was a mistake for her, and I think this may be why plus size retailers choose not to use Kirstie to model for them, and why magazines pick on her about her weight. There are other plus size women in the media who don't get half the exposure about their weight as she does.

Lately in tabloids I have been reading headlines like "4 Months to Live," "Who'll Die First," and other lovely headlines. This makes me sick as I am guessing that these headlines (about dying) are untrue. There are several women as large as Kirstie living longer than "4 Months."

With all of the pics, it may be hard to decipher which are good among many of these 'costumes.' In many pics, her main faux pas seems to be her undone hair! If she put a little more effort into fixing her hair and applying a little makeup to brighten her features, I think she could turn herself around and become a role model and inspiration for other PSS (plus size sirens)!!!

Vintage Goodies

The day of the Saw VI release me and Dallas went to a local thrift store and each found a great hat...she stole one I was going to buy. I ended up with a great little pillbox hat with quaint bow on the back, sadly the netting is all torn :( I also found a lovely pair of nude gloves :) They are a polyester and stretch to fit my PSP (omg - I love that girl) hands. We walked around all day strutting our stuff with our lovely hats (and my gloves). Yes, we got several looks and comments.

Yesterday my hunny took me to the same thrift store, and I found a perfect pair of velvet-like black gloves that stop about 2-3 inches below by elbow. I am on the look out for a pair of opera-length gloves (preferably in black).

Awhile back, I entered a giveaway on Strawberry Koi Vintage Style to win a photo of choice on Diana's Etsy shop City Light Photography. I often forget to check my email, and a month later I received an email from Diana notifying me. I emailed her back apologizing for the delay explaining that I forget to check my email, and she said that I could still claim my prize!! Overjoyed, I had a hard time choosing a photograph, but decided on the "Couch" photo as I have been looking for a similar couch to decorate my living room, and thought this photo would be perfect inspiration. Pink! How darling :)

I received my package yesterday, and inside was the beautiful photo (need to find a perfect frame), and Diana was so sweet that she sent me a few additional smaller photos. Halloween 2009

Happy Halloween Everyone!

This year me and Dallas (my sis) dressed up everyday at school/work (we both go to the same school and happen to work there). I forgot to take pics some of the days...boo! We sure did get many compliments and ever more "looks"...yea you know what I am talking about. Oh well. I think both of us are a little happy it is over...only because our faces have become quite acne prone since Monday! boooooooo.

This evening we went to a casino and met our parents...we forgot to take pics of them. Mom looked great! Neither were dressed up, but they love to see us dress up. Lauren was fussy about getting dressed up, but once it was done, and he began getting the "looks," he was all into it...he is an attention whore, lol!

While me and Dallas were at the dessert table, a woman with boobs pushed up to almost her neck approached us. She inquired about our make-up and costumes as she was quite impressed with them. As soon as she left, me and Dallas looked at each other with the realization that she was a drag queen...we had never seen a drag queen before....she was working it lemme tell you! We seen her twice more and she soon started calling us "her gals." I wish I would have thought to get a pic :(

True Blood's Queen Sophie

I first read the book after hearing about how good it was, and that if you liked Twilight that you would like this book. I read Dead Before Dark before I saw the series, and I liked it...I didn't love it like I loved Twilight. To me, True Blood is an adult series while Twilight is more for teens. BTW, the book and the series don't follow very closely, so if you have read the book first some of the inconsistencies may drive you nuts!

That being said, on one of the last few episodes (errr season 3?!?) Queen Sophie quickly became the star, even though she was only in a few episodes for a short period of time. The perfedtly placed hair, applied makeup, and style had me drooling...to me she epitome of a vintage glamor girl. Queen Sophie is played by the lovely Evan Rachael Wood who has been known to wear vintage in her daily life.

The hair and makeup look simple enough to accomplish and could be worn day or night...just add a change of clothes and you will be stylish all day long ;) For those of you that may require a guide to accomplish this type of hairstyle, headover to YouTube and watch BerlinHairBaby hair tutorial on Queen Sophie. Meet Pad-Foot

A few weeks back I wrote a post on the passing of my lil baby Marshmallow. I still really miss her :*( Days after losing her, my mother was very insistent on me getting a new lil one (that has always been her way of helping us get over the loss of a pet). After searching for the perfect lil one, we came across Pad-Foot. She has lil white booties on all of her lil tootsies, and she also has a white neck stripe. She won't let me take a pic of that yet, so will have to wait!

I wanted Lauren to name her, but I wanted a fu-fu name like that in which I had given Marshmallow. My sister tried to name her Skunky as she has a stripe down her back. She is still a little scared so she still poops quite a bit. The second day we had her, she was biting, but ater that she has not bitten.

Ooooooohhhh Halloween is around the corner, and I can't wait!

My sister Dallas and I were messing around with make-up when she came over this evening. I forgot to take pics. I thought I would add a few pics from last years Halloween. The top first pic was taken on Halloween at Pechanga Casino as we met our parents there b/c both of our boyfriends had to work :(

The top second pic was about 2 weeks before Halloween last year...we seen some vids on youtube and got inspired. Last year MissChievous (Julia's) vid's were the best, in my opinion! I think she has done one for this year already and plans on more. Go to her channel and check them out, you won't be disappointed :)

These last two pics are of the boys. The first is my bf Lauren. He was going as the Joker. Looks pretty cute, if I do so say myself :) The second is Dallas' bf Trent, and he was going as a rock star.

I have already been messing around with Halloween looks. I am not sure what I wanna be this Halloween, I just know that I wanna be something dead :P I LOVE the blood and fake bruises, scabs, etc... Trent bought Dallas a book (Martha Stewart) on making all kinds of Halloween treats, and I thought that making lil ghosts would be cool. Mysterious Exploriation: Sprockets, Corsets, and Goggles, Oh My!

While browsing the internet, what I do on most productive days :), I came across a style of dressing known as steampunk. If you have seen the film Wild Wild West with Will Smith, you know what I am talking about. It reminds me of a Victorian/Explorer/Western cross where quirky individual piece combine to form an eye catching masterpiece from another time.

While browsing Torrid back in July (getting ready for Comic Con), I came across the beautiful Black Buckle-Strap Under-Bust Vest. It is sooo cute and comfortable to boot! It has an elastic back and does not dig in. I think this will be a great starter piece. I am going to use some other things that I will come across to form an outfit. Stay tuned!

Movie Night LA Confidential

As mentioned in the previous Movie Night post on Mulholland Falls, I decided to rent LA Confidential from Netflix. I watched it Thursday night. I didn't have high expectations b/c as it was suppose to be a similar plot to Mulholland Falls. That being said, I enjoyed the movie.

As usual I loved the wardrobe and hairstyles. I wish the women in the film (like Basinger) has more screen time. In a nutshell, it is basically about corruption within the LAPD in the 1950s. The movie can be hard to follow as there are several characters and story lines going on within the movie at least for me (yes, I know...I am lame). I really liked Kevin Spacey and Kim Basinger's characters. Basinger played a Veronica Lake look-a-like call girl. I really LOVED her hair!

Just some fun tidbits... In Mulholland Falls, William Peterson (Grissom in CSI) plays a bad guy while in LA Confidential Paul Guilfoyle (Captain Brass in CSI) plays the bad guy.

Looking for movie pics, I came across this website: AMC's Best Neo-Noir Films...may be worth checking out!

BTW, I still prefer Mulholland Falls over LA Confidential, but I definatly recommend watching it...just keep-up with who's who!

Rest in Peace Marshmallow

This morning at 3:30AM I knew my dwarf hamster wasn't going to make it through the night. I can to find out Monday that she might have cancer.

I first noticed a few drops of blood , near the vaginal area, on my hamster Marshmallow (dwarf hamster) about 6 months ago. I read online that it maybe a menstrual thing. It did this for a day about once every 3-4 weeks. In the past month, the blood amount has increased to about the size of a quarter to half-dollar in size. I thought that it might be a but of a rougher month for her. But instead of once a month it was about every week and a half. Last Friday it was a similar size. Three days later (Monday) it happened again. I took her to a vet that day, and he gave me antibiotics and some pain meds. Today (Weds) she is bleeding again (twice today...once at 4pm and again at 10pm). The vet told me that it may still bleed for a few days after.

When Lauren (my fiancee) picked her up at 3:30 AM, she was limp and would not open her eyes. We got her to take her Banana flavored antibiotics. About 20 minutes later she began making sporadic movements (kinda like a fish) and would get in awkward positions. We were both bracing ourselves because we knew. She passed on at around 4:30 AM. Her pain was finally over. I was talking with my mom on the phone, so I didn't get to see her take her last breath.

I miss her sooooo much. I have been crying all day. We made the 3 hour drive to my parents house where we buried her and made a little cross for her.

Movie Night Married Life

I watched Married Life on Netflix (through the X-Box) a few weeks back, and while searching through the instant movie section, I ran across my rating for this movie. To begin with, I love Rachael Adams since seeing her in the Notebook (which I adore, btw), so I was looking forward to this movie.

Overall, the movie was OK. It was basically about a guy that was cheating on his wife with a younger gal (Adams), and his playboy best friend (Pierce Brosnan) suddenly finds himself smitten with her...and the story goes from there. I just feel that the story never really develops and fails to reach any major climax. It also seems really slow.

However, I really liked all the clothing worn. I especially like Rachael Adam's clothes. They were all beautiful and reminded me of the wardrobe from Mad Men.

Max Factor's Pan Cake Foundation

My mother-in-law was staying with me and my fiancee over the past week, and we got to discussing makeup. I was telling her that I didn't really wear foundation as I feel like it is too thick (and greasy) and still leaves me ruddy. I have VERY ruddy complexion on my face (cheeks, chin, and forehead) and on my chest and arms. I have used several foundations (drug stores and sampled some high-end ones). The only thing that seems to help is Smashbox's Photo Finishing Color Corrector in green. The green corrector from Smashbox does a great job, but at $17 for a small tube, it is almost not worth it.

Anyway, she suggested that I try Max Factor's Pan Cake foundation in Natural Number 2, and it was a water activated formula. I was hesitant at first b/c I read reviews that it was basically an old-fashioned makeup that worked at the time, but it basically doesn't hold a candle to newer liquid/cream formulas. It can also be very cakey. I figured what-the-heck, and if I didn't like it, I could return it. After failing to find it at Walgreens, we went to CVS and found that they had an extremely small section for Max Factor products (on various blogs it states that Max factor won't be selling items in the US anymore). After I purchased it. she wanted to stop by Michaels so I could purchase a sea sponge to apply the foundation.

When we got home, she submerged the sponge in water, squeezed the water out, and began applying it to my face. She told me to walk outside into natural light and see what I thought. At first I noticed how smooth and clear my face looked, but then seem some buildup around my nose and thorough "oh no!" After I smoothed out the buildup around my nose, I came to realize that I loved this foundation. The redness was gone and my face was like a clear canvas giving a very matte finish.

The most important trick in using this foundation is having a sea sponge (NOT a synthetic sponge). I got mine in the aisle by the brushes at Michaels.

I think this is going to be my new fav foundation for awhile, and the staying power is pretty decent. However, be warned this does give a very matte look and some powder-y-ness can be seen.

Movie Night: Mulholland Falls

Mulholland Falls....my heart melts when I hear the name of this movie. I remember falling in love with it as a teenager. The elegantly glamorous dressed women and "cool as a cucumber" male actors. I am a HARDCORE fan of modern films set in older periods. I feel that the 1960's and past had some of the most exquisite fashions. Both men and women looked well polished.

Mulholland Falls is about a group of LA cops that find this women that has been broken (boy all crushed) out in the desert. We later come to learn the the main cop (Nolte) knows the woman, and the drama proceeds from there. The film is set in the 40-50s.

I read an interesting blog about this movie while searching for pics from the movie. In one of Radiator Heaven's posts, the topic of Mulholland Falls (MF) is discussed. He discussed how MF was a bomb at the box office and received a great deal of criticism, yet a year later L.A. Confidential (a film similar in nature) received a great deal of praise. Even won some awards over Cameron's Titanic. I am going to have to pick this up! Read ore of his post here. I felt that the movie was beautifully written, directed, and the actors were fantastic!

Nick Nolte, Jennifer Connelly, Melanie Griffith, Michael Madsen, Chris Penn, John Malkovich, Treat Willaims, Daniel Baldwin, Rob Lowe, William Petersen (Grissom from CSI), and others star in this movie.

Makeup Trends: Megan Fox's Smokey Eyes

One of today's biggest makeup trend setters is the gorgeous Megan Fox. Being a stunner alone, most makeup looks would look fantastic on her, and maybe not so hot on the rest of us. However, one of her most popular and stunning looks is her smokey eye.

At first, it looks like a sexy cat eye that may require a bit of eyeliner or an eye pencil, but upon closer inspection, it is actually a smoked-out eyeshadow that is quite subtle while still being stunning. If the black shadow still feels a little to harsh, try using a chocolate brown or a pretty color like violet or turquoise.

The trick is to use a thin round domed pencil brush. The Loew Cornell 272 Dome Round brush would be excellent for the job (available at Michael's craft stores). Start on the outer-corner of the eye and sweep inward focusing on creating a cat-eye type look. Add some black (or other color) to the water line, mascara, and you are done with the eyes.

Ahhh...another look at the Roaring Twenties. The looks were some of the most dramatic of the decades past. Dark eyes and even bolder eyebrows, and the cothes and accessories that danced in fluidity. The 20s fashions can be particularly challenging for plus size women as the styles were straight up and down. The seams of garment were usually two at best. Being a plus size woman, I know how important several, well placed, seams and darts can be...

This style of clothing is particularly good for women with boyish figures, and not so great for women with a few extra curves :) However, by taking a few inspirational pieces from the era with modern fitting, creating a modern 20s look can be achieved.

*look for pieces that have flow, but contain seams that move around your curves. This will give the "pencil" image with out spilling anything else.
*find unique pieces that are ultra femanine.
*find accessories that contain feathers, ruffles, silk, pearls, etc...
**find modern touches that will keep your outfit an inspiration and not old-fashioned!

Being in the "bigger" category of plus size, I find myself in a pickle. I LOVE al and any heels. I am like the sister in the Movie/book "In Her Shoes." I buy hels just because they are pretty. I was talking to my sister the other day, and she said "you know you have bought heels that you haven't even worn once!" I thought about it, and she was right. Being bigger, I find that my feel like I have been walking in heels carrying cement blocks around all day. They chronically ache for the next few days. One thing that seems to give my foot a little more cofort and allows me to last longer is wedges (though not all). For the most part, in many wedges it feels lke you are wearing a comfy sandal and not a 4' heel. After visiting one of my fav plus size blogs, Manolo for the Big Girl I had an idea. Plus size icons: inspiration or mistake?

We all know this woman:

Yep, Monica Lewinsky. Good ol "I am voting for republicans because the democrats left a bad taste in my mouth" or "What does a vending machine and Monica Lewinsky have in common...they both take in Bills."

I was about 16 when the scandal came out, and I have to tell you I was intrigued by this woman. Adultery aside, the most famous man in the world, The US President, was obviously interested in a bigger woman. I know many of you must be appalled, yet I bet many of you also follow the Angelina Jolie/Brad Pitt news and who doesn't love Marilyn?

Ok, hard feelings aside lets review the fashion aspect of this woman.

First, I think that in many pics she can be an inspiration for women searching for a professional look. In the first pic below, she is elegantly dressed, makeup is subtle and jewelry is classic. Simply done. On the other hand, we all have our bad days where we go out looking less than perfect so don't be hating. Obviously (second pic) the piggy tails are a no-no.

The following pics are a good representation of evolving style. The first is obviously dated with overly big hair. The second is more classic and modern. From the sleek hair to the fresh face to the chandelier earrings, she looks elegant.

My overall vote is a B+/A-. I feel that bigger women have to many obstacles to overcome with out the rest of us poking fun. We all make mistakes. Move on.

Define Bad

I have decided to do a Sexy Siens Look Book on this flapper inspired designs that are currently out. All items came from Torrid

I think I am in love...I got a Torrid credit card a few months ago as soon as I seen that I could get one. Immediatly afterwards, I thought 'why did I do that?' I hardly ever shop at Torrid as their prices are a little too high for me. I really don't like to spend $60 on one item of clothing, and if I do, it better be damn cute!

Anyway, going into the store and looking online, I have found a few little things :P For instance these gorgeous little hair/broach feathered pieces. One might think that I am crazy as they look weird/ugly in this pic that I have before you, but I assure you they are exotic. The peacock feathered one reminds me of the 20's flapper era.

The only problem...they are $16 each. My solution: I bought some cheap clips from the 99 cent store (yes, they have good deals!...and omg there is no cent sign on they keyboard, didn't they use to have those on there??), and I am going to go to a craft store and pick-up some flowers/eathers/crystals to make my own :)

More Holiday Magic

One of my favorite things about the upcoming holidays is seeing the 'posters' for new holiday clothes. Here are two pretty pics. The top (green) is from IGIGI and the bottom is from Torrid. I am going to try to find more and add them.

While I was at the Escondido mall today I seen both coats at the Torrid store all dolled up. They look so pretty. Defiantly get the 'white' Christmas feeling.

The green dress on the 'poster' for IGIGI looks gorgeous, but additional pics don't quite look as good :(

Twilight

WOOOHOOOO it is almost here. I read the books around this time last year (the first 3, then the final around May). My boyfriend, Lauren, was suggested and borrowed the first book to read by someone at his work, and he immediately gobbled them all up. I then became fascinated, ok I really liked the cover pic, and decided to pick up the first book at Walmart one morning. I fell in love within the first few chapters. I am not going to give away the plot in case someone has not read it.

Go pick up the first book, you won't regret it. It is under the teen section, but it is for everyone. It is sweet romance that brings you back to young love.

Another thing, in case you are not aware, the whole "Team Edward" and "Team Jacob" things going around right now are about these books. I am really a team Edward fan as I am pretty sure that I am in love with him, and wish my bf could say all the sweet things that Edward tells Bella. However, I am almost forced to be a team Jacob as my bf related to him (he is Native American and is fascinated to see one portrayed in a popular series, me too!!).

By the way...I have two hamsters that are named from characters in the book. A sweet little black Teddy Bear hamster-Jacob. Two dwarf Robos. Bella and Nessie :)

Come Hither: Sexy Lingerie Ready to Go

Well at least the lingerie section is looking some what promising...I can't say that for the winter '08 collection clothing line. All the lingerie is from Lane Bryant. I tried on all three bras yesterday (11/7/2008), and they look so much prettier up close. Here is my review on the bras as I did not have time to look at much else.

Red bra: it looks pretty much like the pic. It seems to "spread" the books out a little. I don't particularly care for this aspect in a bra. I think it gives my boobs an awkward look/shape. It reminds me of a long uni-boob :( C

Green bra: I think this bra is really pretty. I love the color green, and this green is pretty close to perfection. When I initially seen the bra on the LB website, I thought it may have a saggy effect from the look of the bra on the model. The bra holds up fairly well...I think I tried on a size slightly smaller, though I think a bra the next cup size up would have been too big. It looked very pretty. If anything try it on and see what it looks like. A-

Lacy red bra: OMG this bra is a seduce your boyfriend bra...come hither boy! It is frickin gorgeous! On the website it seems a little plain. Try it on...you will love it. That being said I did not pick one up, why? I don't think it is a 100% supportive bra. I feel that it has a slight sag, so for almost $40 I decided to wait. TRY IT ON though, you will really have fun looking at how pretty you look in the mirror :)

I was going to get a similar hat last year at Kmart, but decided against it because I was not sure if I could "wear" a hat...look good in one. I think this year I may buy one as I am really starting to get into the "holiday" spirit.

Gem stones...velvet...silk...lace...girly textures...military inspited...glamazon...The rich vibrant hues that come at the end of the year and sneak into the beginning of the new year.

During this time of year I feel glamorous. Who wouldn't? Thankfully for us plus gals, we "kinda" get a chance to feel glamorous and a little more "in style" than the other times of year. I always hated summer b/c the style is usually the "nothing there" look. You know what I mean...mini, short, small. This year I have come to a new appreciation of summer...long flowing dresses with a small short-sleeve sweater. During the last few months of the year we are bombarded with a romantic 20's/50's vibe. It cannot be avoided, and why should it?

About two years ago, Lane Bryant had this GORGEOUS gem stone collection. Most of the jackets were to die for...deep hues that had you salivating. I bought this long "silk like" skirt that I still have, and every time I wear it I receive a sweet comment. They also had matching velvet-like jackets that I missed out on. They were almost $70 so I decided to wait, and after x-mas they went on sale to $20, and I was dumb enough to pass on them. Though later during the year I bought a almost lime green velvet-like jacket with ruffles around the clooar and a black one (the black one was destroyed in the washer :(

The past year, I was really disappointed. LB pretty much had crap! Hopefully this year they will bring back the glam! Evans (in England) has an amazing (some) collection...look at their winter catalogue.

This year get something you find glamerous...have fun even if you can't afford much...accessories can make all the difference. If it comes down to it, just get a really sexy pair of heels.

Lane Bryant has a really cute plus size tops section right now. I bought a very cute top Wednesday (8/27/08) the silk embroidered top. The others look promising :)

NEWS ALERT! I was talking to the manager at the LB in Temecula, and she said that LB was getting a new president and he wants LB to start selling fashion forward items...so she said that come spring 2009, we should all be seeing cute items not these hideous abstract art crap!!!

I am really in love with their stockings! They have "Honeycomb," ribbed, and argyle. I think this would look really sexy with a dress and hot pair of heels or boots!

Revlon--Limited Edition

Revlon "Just Bitten" lip stain in "Orange Blood"

***The color is really pretty, but be warned it is very BRIGHT. It fades after awhile and it will leave stains in places where your lips are dry.

Revlon "Bedroom Eyes" dry eyeliner in "Smokin"???

***This is a powder liner, so it gets all over the place. It is a very pretty color, and does in fact give the sexy "bedroom eyes." Definatly more of an evening liner.

Revlon "Golden Affair" blush in "Berry Daring"

***I was immediatly attracted to the gorgeous color of the blush ( I am not really into blush that much as my cheeks are really red by themselves). Anyway, the color is very vibrant. It leaves a pretty gold touch from the gold center sparkle (see picture). I am afraid that after the "gold sparkle" is gone it won't have the same effect :(

Oxfords

I bought these oxfords a few months ago...before christmas (2007), but I was unable to find a pic until now on Cutsey Girl Shoes. The heel does not seem super sturdy. On the plus side, they do not seem to pinch anywhere. However, stockings would probably make the heels more comfortable as the inside seems to be lined with the "slicky" plastic that is seen on the outside.

Lane Bryant-Printed Sundress

I just got this printed sundress in the mail today. I ordered it last Sunday evening. I tried the blue floral dress that was in the store...but I really liked the way the rd one looked online, so I decided to wait and get the one I really wanted online. I know, I know, I said I was not going to shop at LB, but I really like some of their new dresses.

Anyway...I got the dress in the mail, but when I opened it package, I don't know if I really like it. It kinda reminds me of a bandanna. Bandannas are cool and all, but they are not really my style. I think the way the red mixes in the dress may be a little to harsh. I tried it on and it does not seem as bad, but I am still debating on it.

I ordered the dress in a 24. The boobs are a lil too big, but a 22 is too short (know from the dress tried on in the store). For dresses, I usually go a size or two smaller than what I normally wear. I am typically a 24/26 on top and 26/28 on bottom.

**I ended up returning the dress. It was a little to big in the top, but mostly I did not feel fabulous in it.

Are you all as excited as I am for the upcoming movie? papers said that shots of the film, like the wedding dress scene, was intended to be fakes, but it looks like Carrie and Mr. Big will be saying 'I do.' I am sad as well though. Iwill want to see new episodes after the movie :( I still cannot wait!!! Look at those sexy heels Carrie is wearing. Very S&M. Ican't wait to see what the girls have been u to. I REALLY hope there are lots of cute shoes :)

I went to see the movie the morning it came out with my boyfriend.

I was kinda disassapointed with the movie. To begin with, it started out with Carre and Big getting ready to get married. Miranda, mad at Steve for cheating (I really hated this), told Big that getting married messes things up. So...the next day when it is time to get married, Big does not come into the church, Carrie laves devistated, and Big comes back to his senes, and Carrie hits him with her bouquet of roses. ......So for the next hour of the movie Carrie and Miranda are all down on life. Blah, blah, blah... Meanwhile, Carrie finds a personal assistant, who we don't really get to know except she is all about finding love in the big city...boring...

To sum the movie up, it has its cute moments, but after about 45 minutes into the movie, it becomes really depressing.

Cute finds at Ross

Lately I have been obsessed with finding cute dresses at Ross.

A couple of weeks ago me and my sister, Dallas, went to a mall in San Diego, and we went into a Torrid stores to look at the clearance items (I think Torrid is a little to pricey for their "regular" (not on sale items). Anyway, I tried on a couple of tops and sweaters.

---I had on a white dress that I bought from Ross with a sweater I got from Torrid, clearance--$9, a few years back. The dress is a white cotton Summer dress similar to the picture. The sweaters are the ones I am talking about and two weeks later bought.---

The sweaters were about $21 each, but I wanted to return a cute pencil skirt that did not quite fit (I paid $40 for this one---money for a birthday present).

The sweaters make my dress look so fancy :) It really incorporated the current trend on spring-summer fashions.

Back to my original point. Each week new dress styles are coming in that are really cute-some REALLY ugly-but most importantly they are pretty cheap. Most are under $20. I am a size 24/26 on top and 26/28 on the bottom, and the 3X (22-24) fit me pretty well. Some if the dresses are small in the waist and others in the boobs, but on average, most of the dresses fit pretty well.

I will admit that most of the dresses are spaghetti straps or spaghetti/halters, but with a cute cardigan/sweater they look really cute for spring. To resolve the problem for summer, I bought a scoop neck tee shirt to wear under the dress for summer. I am not sue how this will look (sometimes weird), but I will keep you posted.

Yesterday I also picked up a pretty dress from Walmart (3x), if I find a pic I will post it.

Making a Pretty Spring/Summer Dress

I am seriously on a mission to make a pretty spring/summer dress. I am really on a dress kick right now as well as a sewing kick. I found some really great ideas on how to make my dress from eDressMe. I usually look at the dress and try to mimick it. I have no actual patterns, nor do I know how to use them. I think they are to complicated.

Current Hair Trends

I am really in love with the shorter asymmetrical/bob style hair cuts. I currently have an asymmetrical blond bob. after discovering the Curvy Girl Clothing website. Here is a picture of the beautiful model Shannon Casiday:

This trend seems to also be popular with celebrities. Victoria Beckham (Spice Girls) and Katie Homes (married to Tom Cruise) are the most famous. I am currently fighting with myself as to whether or not I should get bangs. I have had bangs before with different hairstyles, and I always hated them as they always wanted to part down the middle and never quite looked right as I usually curl my hair.

Dilemmas dilemmas. Below I have added a picture that shows the different styles of bobs. I am not partcurally fond of the shorter ones mysel as I have had a shorter bob, and absolutly hated it.

Cute Spring Wedges

Ok, to let everyone know: I have a major shoe thing! I have so many heels, and severl of them I have not even worn yet :(

Just last night I bought two pairs of Madden Girl Carmell floral wegdes. They are soo cute. One is a dark brown similiar to the pic. The other pair, which had me a few weks ago, is black with a purple floral number. Last week they were $40 each and yesterday they had them for $20 each with buy one get the other 1/2 off. I just couldn't help myself. I have to thank Lauren (my boyfriend) who helped con me into buying the second pair.

The only problem is that by the toes the stiching kind of rubs.

I was wearing a long green/brown vertical stripped dress, and a soon as I bought them, I put them on. They looked great! I think these wedges will go really nice with the pretty floral dreses that are in stores for spring/summer. Enjoy

Update: I had to do some repairs to the shoes. I wore them to town a couple of times and they hurt so bad! It felt like they were cutting off my circulation :<

I bought three strips of leather like matherial from Walmarts fabric section. One black, brown, and forest green. I just finished the black pair on Sunday (May 18, 2008). I basically cut the fabric that covers part of the toes on the right hand side for the left heel. I then resew it back together with the small piece of leather like material. It looked pretty cute.

I have not worn the heels yet as I am afraid they will come undone as I am waling, so I am waiting on a 'less walkie' day for myself.

Sexy Trench fom Igigi

Ok I am absolutely in love with Igigi's white trench dress what can be used as a dress or coat. Making this coat versatile for any season. Only downfall is that the trench costs $139, but it is still a pretty good price for such a tranch. Cute High Heels

I just bought a pair (two actually) of the cuttest high heels in the world (at least I think so). Unlike the picture, mine are in a chocolate brown and jet black. They also have a t-strap. If you are interested in a pair, you cn find them up to a size 10 at Cutesy Girl . These heels will work great under a pair of wideleg trousers.

The heels are really sturdy, and they do not seem to pinch anywhere.
